Gadar 2 Movie Review 2023: is Gadar2 Blockbuster?

Gadar 2 is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, released on 11 August 2023. Sunny Deol had done the feat of going to Pakistan in their own land and lecturing them in a loud voice to seduce the army or the citizens at the same time in Gadar. Now the film Gadar 2 has been made 22 years after performing the same feat here.

This movie is directed and produced by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktiman Talwar. The total budget of the film is 60 crores and its collection is 690.54 crores. Along with Sunny Deol, the film also stars Amisha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Gaurav Chopra, Manish Wadhwa, and Simrat Kaur in lead roles.

Comparison with Gadar: The Prem Katha

Gadar 2 doesn’t feel as special as its predecessor Gadar. Sunny Deol’s dialogues and dialogue delivery in Gadar were touching and that’s why the film was popular even then but Gadar 2’s writing is not that good and the dialogue feels weak. Manish Wadwa’s villain in Gadar 2 doesn’t seem that impressive. Two to three songs in Gadar 2 are old only to be presented afresh which is a positive side but the new songs don’t sound very impressive.IMDB rating of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is 7.3 out of 10 whereas, Gadar 2 got around 5.3 rating on IMDB out of 10.

If we talk about the acting of the characters in the film, the way Amisha Patel played the role of Sakina very well in Gadar, she is not seen in Gadar 2. Overall, except for Sunny Deol, everyone else’s acting in this film seems over-dramatic.

Soundtrack

The music of the film is composed by Mithun and the lyrics are written by Sayeed Quadri. There are 6 songs in the film.

Gadar 2 songs :

1) Udd Jaa kaale kaava
2) khairiyat
3) Main Nikla Gaddi leke
4) Dil Jhoom
5) Sura soi
6) chal Tere Ishq Mein.

My Personal Opinion About Gadar 2

Considering the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Kahani, I did not find Gadar 2 as impressive. Old songs from this film are great to listen to. Overall I would say this is a family-friendly movie you can watch this movie with your family.

Talking about the 1st half of the two-hour and 45-minute film Gadar 2, wherever Sunny Deol is present, the scenes or the same dialogue feel good on the screen. Sunny Deol is there for 30-35 minutes in the first hour and a half. In the remaining 40-45 minutes, Tara Singh’s son gets a lot of screen time but his acting and dialogues are not that good.

But when he goes into serious mode in the second half, his acting seems a bit impressive. A recap of Gadar 1 is given at the beginning of the film. Glimpses are also thrown in between the full film. So that we stay connected with the movie.

At the end of the film, an attempt has been made to convey the message of religion and humanity so that there is no misunderstanding regarding the subject of the film.
