Azhar Iqubal is a co-founder and CEO of the Inshorts app. He is only 31 years old. He was born on 18 January 1992 in Aligarh Bihar, India. He completed his school education in Oriental Public School Kisanganj. He did his subsequent education in Delhi. In 12th IIT JEE, he got an India rank of around 600. He then took admission in IIT Delhi Integrated M.Tech in Mathematics and Computing. He dropped out of graduation for his business.
Career life of Azhar Iqubal
Azhar Iqubal noticed one thing while studying, a lot of people are moving away from newspapers because people want to read the news but people used to spend a lot of time reading long stories and big news in newspapers. And so Azhar along with his two friends Deepit Purkayastha and Anunay Pandey created a Facebook page called ‘News in Short’ which summarizes daily news in three to four lines.
He used to explain the news in just 60 words. His page became popular in a very short period. After gaining thousands of followers, he launched an app. Its popularity started to increase a lot and in 2013 the company got a good boost due to funding of 10 lakhs. In 2015, the app was named ‘Inshorts’.
Inshorts today has a funding of around 165 million American dollars, Indian rupees 1374 crores. The valuation of the company is 550 million American dollars which is equal to 4580 crore Indian rupees. Its office is in Noida. More than 500 people work there.
Azhar started another company in 2019 named ‘Public’. It is a social app. It provides local information like local jobs, local events, and entertainment. The app has also received funding of Rs 300 crore and has crossed 10 crore users in just a few years. Thus Azhar is not only the co-founder of Inshorts company but also the CEO of Public. And now he is seen as a judge in the reality show Shark Tank India. and people are loving his appearance in season 3.
